Eastport Health Care, Inc. is in compliance with Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability in certain health programs and activities.
Section 1557 requires a covered entity (EHC) to inform individuals with limited English proficiency about the availability of language assistance services by providing taglines. Taglines are short statements written in non-English languages that indicate the availability services free of charge.
The regulation requires a covered entity to post taglines in “at least the top 15 languages spoken by individuals with limited English proficiency of the relevant State or States” in significant publications and communications, in physical locations, and in a location accessible from the home page of the covered entities website. For publications and communications that are significant and small-sized, taglines are to be posted in “at least the top two languages spoken by individuals with limited English proficiency of the relevant State or States.”
EHC provides free aids and services to people with disabilities to communicate effectively with us, such as qualified sign language interpreters and written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, other formats). EHC provides free language services to people whose primary language is not English, such as qualified interpreters and information written in other languages.
